If you want to elevate yourself, you need to at least donate 10 % of your hard earned income. I.e if your yearly salary after tax is $100,000 dollars you should donate $10,000 dollars to the right person only, not to random, everyone.
These are based on Bhagawat Geeta, You should do charity of 10% of your income to
1) To a worthy person, make sure to choose correct receipient
2) without expecting anything in return.. not even a ‘Thank you’
3) Should never be published, shared, publicized, not even allowed to tell your spouse or family members on whom and how much you donate.
4) Charity should not be done with a motive for religious conversion/ political reasons, or just to show case on Social media.
The wealth should have been acquired through honest and legal means, the action should be driven by a sincere desire to share the wealth with the less privileged in order to alleviate their troubles and it should be done with a fervour that it is being offered to the divine.
The charity is classified as dakshina, bhiksha and daan. Dakshina is wealth given in exchange for services and value. Bhiksha is wealth given in exchange for power and status. Daan is wealth given in exchange for wisdom.
